National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has laid down Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) as the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher for Class 1 to Class 8. It is conducted by both Central government and State governments in India. Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi (CBSE). Most states conduct their own TET.

CTET ( Central teacher eligibility test) and TET (teacher eligibility test) are the entrance exams required to be qualified to become an elementary school teacher in India.

  • CTET is conducted at the central level and the qualified candidate is eligible to teach in any school within India for classes 1 to 8.
  • TET is conducted by the state and enables the qualified candidate to teach in a school of that particular state for classes 1 to 8.

Center Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is mandatory to become a  Government teacher in state level or centre level.

It is an entrance test for teachers conducted every year in different states to recruit government teachers. In order to clear this exam, one has to prepare extremely well.

Latest Information Bulletin – CTET 2018 Notification

The aspiring candidates have to apply online only through CTET website www.ctet.nic.in.

  1. The online application process will start from 01-08-2018 onwards.
  2. The last date for submitting online application is 27-08-2018 and fee can be paid upto 30-08-2018 before 3.30.p.m.

CTET Exam Pattern 

All questions in CTET will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct.

Each carrying one mark and there will be no negative marking.

There will be two papers of CTET.

(i) Paper I will be for a person who intents to be a teacher for classes I to V.

(ii) Paper II will be for a person who intents to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.

Note: A person who intents to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).
